The Flex-Deck attachment for commercial lawn mowers is a unique concept that I (Brad Bork) invented and patented in 1997. It enhances the mowing and trimming ability of all types of commercial lawn mowers - Zero Turn Mowers, Front Mounts, Tractors, and Walk Behinds. I was and still am an independent
business man in small town Iowa. I grew up on a ranch-wheat farm in South Dakota, and have always loved running equipment, and as a result of that love, have always had heavy duty commercial lawn mowers for my lawn care, snow blowing etc.
The EZ mow Flex-Deck when attached onto commercial grade, or heavy
duty consumer grade lawn mowers (Tractors, Front Mounts, Zero Turn,
Walk Behind) creates an innovative advancement in mower deck design.
The fact that it is offset forward and laterally on the left trim
side of the main deck allows a very wide deck to contour mow, and
actually get into many corners, under low hanging branches and
between narrow objects (tombstones, bushes etc 26" apart) without
the tractor having to be there.
The world is full of multiple wide area mowers, but all of them have
the center deck forward, and the wing decks either to the side, or
behind the middle main deck. This arrangement does not allow the
operator to maneuver the wing decks sideways between objects, as
they tend to swing rearward. The Flex-Deck with it's unique forward
mounted position creates a direct side move by the Flex-Deck when
the machine is turned toward the space to be mowed between, like
bushes, tombstones etc. This forward mounted position also puts the
Flex-Deck up into inside corners like no other mower can do.
The Flex-Deck adds 18" of mowing width to the machine it is mounted
on, and will flex downward approximately 10 degrees, so it can be
hung out over culverts, pond banks, and ditch banks etc. It flexes
and mows upward 50 degrees it vastly improves the ability to contour
narrow ditch bottoms and severely un-level terrain.
The Flex-Deck can be removed from the
bracket that is mounted on the main deck in 30 seconds, and the main
deck can be used as before in those cases where the grass is
extremely long, and power becomes an issue.
All in all, the Flex-Deck eliminates a lot of trimming, increases
the efficiency of the mower by up to 75%, and it just makes mowing
fun again. If you are a commercial mower, and want your bottom line
to look a lot better, with a few dollars invested in equipment and
employees, and more acres done per hr. per machine, we would invite
you to call 319-572-2814 or

In the mid 1990's, I owned a John Deere 332 - diesel garden tractor with a 50 inch mowing deck. I mowed my 3 acre yard, my churches 2 acre yard, and the 1 acre church
cemetery (285 stones). The tractor had so much power, I felt it could easily handle another 18 inches of mowing width so I built an add-on deck that went on the front trimming corner of the main deck - up by the front wheel of the tractor. I designed it to come off and go on in 30 seconds because I felt I would need to take it off for the
cemetery (I could not mow between most of the stones with a 50 inch deck, so thought that a 68" deck would be even worse). I also wanted the deck to flex up and down with the terrain, as wide mower decks tend to scalp on
unleveled terrain, so I designed a pivot system and belt system to allow the flex-deck to flex upward 45 degrees, and downward 8 degrees.
After building a prototype, I took it down to the cemetery to test its ability to mow
unleveled terrain without scalping, and was astounded at the contoured look that was accomplished through the ability of the two mower decks to flex independently, and as I mowed along the first row of stones, I found out that its unique front-left corner position allowed it to do exact square corners, and be directed sideways with a left turn to mow between all the stones 26 inches apart.
Suddenly I had the whole cemetery (between all the stones even) mowed faster and easier with a 68 inch deck than I could with 50 inch mower decks. I have never taken the deck off since that moment - the more cluttered a yard is with obstacles, the better the Flex-Deck enhances your mowing and trimming time savings.

In short, the Flex-Deck adds width to commercial lawn mowers, but acts like a push mower that you carry with you at all times. It likes to be poked between things, under things, out over pond banks, and it likes to get those narrow ditch bottoms contoured. |
